I have spoken about degrees of separation many times on here. It never fails to amaze me how it "works".
We also know that Went can write, has written and is writing more and more.
Now there is a change - Went IS going to ADAPT a screenplay. So not only do we have Degrees of Separation but now degrees of Adaptation.
As a fan we have had to "Adapt" to life without him on our screens on a weekly basis, popping in and out of Starbucks or "Koo Roo" and we have had to adapt to the fact that Went is working a lot more with words rather than camera's -paradoxically linking us back to a screen but without him on it.!!
This announcement tells us fans what Went IS going to do - not what he HAS done. By doing this Went puts himself in a different category and puts himself under pressure. It is a turning point, one that we knew was coming and one that he also deserves. Wentworth Miller is becoming known as an Actor AND Screenwriter.
With "Harry",Went is moving forward, onward and upward. It is brilliant.!!
But what I like best is that we HAVE NEWS. Not only do we have STOKER to watch - how the actors "adapt" to Went's words, but we have LOFT - where Went has adapted his acting ability to be "Luc". At some point we hope to hear good news about "The Disappointments Room" - who will adapt that?
And now we have "Harry".
Described as a black comedy about a family outing from hell,Wentworth might at last be allowed to express his sharp, satirical humour that is so loved by his fans.
Went is going to be involved in an "International,Art House,Mystery,Comedy Drama" - a highly regarded French Film that won awards and was nominated at the Cannes Film Fest in 2000.As we read Kim Peirce is going to direct and we have Kim to thank for directing "Boys Don't Cry" - that fabulous film that introduced me to Hilary Swank and the world when she won her first Oscar.
Degrees of separation link Kimberley to Went by the fact that she is remaking "Carrie" - one of Went's favourite films. More degrees abound with Maven pictures being linked to Gotham - Went's Literary Agents. News to me that Trudie Styler - wife of the incredible STING - is one of the partners of Maven.
Celine Rattry who produced the superb, Oscar nominated film "The Kids are All Right",partners Trudie at Maven. So Went is writing, in adaptation, for two strong women linked to two strong men - "Oscar" and Sting.!
I am excited for him - and I am certain he is excited to rise to the challenge. Just let us know how it goes Went please - a little interview perhaps?? - where we can begin to interpret your adaptation.
One of Kim's finest
One of Celine's
One of Trudie's
One of Sting's
and one of the many Wentworth finest moments...
