Prison Brother Blues

I mentioned I think about a big family party I went to. Always, without fail the "Blues Brothers" film track gets people up and dancing - with or without alcohol.

So I was reminded of early into New Years Day when, after the 20 minute firework display live on TV ,comes a film that no one usually watches because they are all still "high" on the Big Ben Chimes. At 12.25 am January 1st 2012 the "film" appeared.

Watching ,without sound and through a wild gathering of embraces, party hats and spilled drinks (on my carpet !!), I suddenly recognised something dear to my heart -JOLIET!! as in Joliet State Prison Chicago.

No I have never been incarcerated (!) but of course as a Prison Break fan - I would KNOW Joliet when I saw it.

It was the opening scene of the "Blues Brothers" - brilliant.Who knew.?

Years ago "who knew" that Joliet would feature in a great film with great music and also bring us all a glorious vision in handcuffs-even if he "broke " out of them - figuratively speaking (English,Fitz or Percy).

Who knew that Joliet would give us Prison Blues,Prison Riots,Brotherly Love,Tattoos, the occasional meal (Went never ate anything!! in Prison),Solitary Confinement and of course the Love Story via the Prison Medical Centre.

It goes without saying that ,for many - WHO KNEW that Joliet would bring us THE most Wanted Prisoner -the prisoner that most would like to spend time with - in the cell behind the sheet - preferably.

If it wasn't for the fact that we knew Prison Break was a TV drama (was it???),  the figures for arrests and incarcerations during the time of Season 1 especially surely went up - all wanting Joliet GenPop as their choice of residence.

However Joliet was popular for another reason perhaps? The Blues Brothers escaped from it and so did Scofield !!

You would have thought the "powers that be" would have realised in the years between each "drama" that there was a serious, escape issue.

With a prisoner like this - who really cares about leaving? All that effort of scrambling down drain pipes and over walls. No - I could use my energy in other ways - creatively speaking.
